SuperBlue: The Iridescent Spree, released April 2025 on Edition Records, is the follow-up to Kurt Elling and Charlie Hunter's Grammy-nominated 2021 debut as SuperBlue, again backed by Butcher Brown's Corey Fonville on drums and DJ Harrison on bass and keys. The ten tracks move through R&B, neo-soul, classic pop and funk alongside jazz, building on the template of the first record rather than reinventing it. "Freeman Square" stands out as an anthemic highlight, while "Not Here/Not Now" leans on brass arrangements for its lift. Elling remains one of the more decorated vocalists in contemporary jazz, with multiple Grammy nominations and international awards to his name.
