Forever, released November 1986 on Mercury, was recorded across four studios and produced by the band with Ronald "Khalis Bayyan" Bell. It marked James "J.T." Taylor's final studio album with Kool & the Gang before his solo departure; he wouldn't rejoin until 1996. Singles "Victory" and "Stone Love" both reached the R&B top five, and the album was certified gold in the US, Canada and France.
