Released alongside its companion Dub From The Roots, this is King Tubby (Osbourne Ruddock) working the same source tapes — vocal cuts from Studio One and Treasure Isle-era artists reshaped through his mixing desk into instrumental dub. Phasing, filtering and long echo strip the vocals back to skeletal rhythm, the “flying cymbal” hi-hat pattern common to 1973-74 reggae running underneath. Ruddock, murdered in 1989, remains one of dub's foundational engineers; the two records are usually treated as a matched pair.
