After three albums built on deliberate maximalism, Hiatus Kaiyote pulled back on this one — vocalist Nai Palm has described it as a record about clarity, about realising ‘you can still have depth and reach people’ without piling on every idea at once. It came together loosely, through late-night jam sessions and shared meals with a wider circle of Melbourne musicians, plus a credit for veteran producer Mario Caldato (Beastie Boys, Seu Jorge). The band built out a whole visual world to go with it too — artwork by Rajni Perera, invented products and symbols forming their own imagined supermarket built around the album's title. Eleven tracks that trade the group’s usual density for something more direct.
