The Sydney five-piece's 2017 self-titled debut, the first release from what became their own label, La Sape Records. Dave Rodriguez (guitar, production), Dom Kirk (percussion), Jan Bangma (bass), Tully Ryan (drums) and Andrew Bruce (piano, keys) established the template here that would carry through five further records over the following years: genre-agnostic, beat-driven, rooted in live improvisation rather than fixed arrangements written out in advance. A first statement from a band that grew directly out of warehouse performances rather than a conventional studio background, the looseness of those shows carried straight onto the record.
