Don't Let Go, released 1978 on Epic, has George Duke producing himself at Paramount Recording Studios in Los Angeles, backed by bassist Byron Miller, drummer Leon "Ndugu" Chancler and a young Sheila E. on congas and percussion. The record leans more toward R&B than Duke's earlier jazz-fusion work, reaching number five on the Soul Albums chart on the strength of "Dukey Stick," which climbed to number four on the R&B singles chart.
