Thank You... For F.U.M.L. (Funking Up My Life) (1978) took Donald Byrd further from jazz toward R&B and disco. Byrd produced it himself at the Sound Factory in Hollywood, with Greg Phillinganes on piano, Wah Wah Watson and Paul Jackson Jr. on guitar, and Syreeta Wright and Angela Winbush among the singers. The cover art is by the painter Romare Bearden. For the Blue Note jazz-funk that came before it, we also have Places And Spaces and Ethiopian Knights. This is the Australian Elektra pressing.
