Three (1976) was Bob James' third album for Creed Taylor's CTI, recorded at Van Gelder Studio in Englewood Cliffs in November 1975 and January 1976, with Rudy Van Gelder engineering. James arranged and conducted a large studio group including Eric Gale on guitar, Harvey Mason on drums, Grover Washington Jr. on sax, Hubert Laws on flute and Ralph MacDonald on percussion. It reached number 2 on the Billboard jazz albums chart and number 23 on the soul albums chart. Side two opens with "Westchester Lady", and the album also takes on "One Mint Julep" and "Jamaica Farewell". We also have his 1977 album Heads and Grover Washington Jr.'s Winelight. This is the US CTI pressing.
