Recorded October 30, 1958 with Lee Morgan, Benny Golson, Bobby Timmons and Jymie Merritt alongside Blakey, this session was originally released without a title before Timmons's opening composition became popular enough to rename the record. AllMusic counts it among the finest studio work Blakey produced; most tracks, aside from the title cut, became standards in the Messengers' regular repertoire. A hard bop record that leans openly on gospel and blues phrasing rather than hiding it.
