A Night In Tunisia, reissued in 1976 on French RCA under catalog FXL1 7318, revives a 1958 quintet session originally cut for Vik, an RCA subsidiary. Art Blakey leads Bill Hardman, Johnny Griffin, Sam Dockery and Spanky DeBrest, with Jackie McLean appearing under the pseudonym "Ferris Benda" for contractual reasons. It's a different, earlier record than Blakey's better-known 1960 Blue Note album sharing the same title, worth noting for collectors expecting that one.
