Gap Band VII, released 1985 on Total Experience Records, is the ninth studio album from the Wilson brothers' band, named for Tulsa's Greenwood-Archer-Pine district. Recorded and mixed at the label's own Hollywood studio and produced by Lonnie Simmons with Charlie Wilson and Jonah Ellis, the record leans toward smoother, quiet-storm-adjacent material alongside the group's usual synth-funk. Lead single "Going in Circles," a Jerry Peters cover, reached number two on the R&B chart even as the album barely charted.
