It's Only Us, released March 2020 on Colemine Records, is the fourth album from Bay Area band Monophonics, fronted by singer Kelly Finnigan and built on their trademark blend of heavy soul and psych-rock. After nearly a decade as one of the more ferocious live bands working the circuit, the group turned inward here, writing through broken relationships, mental health and gun violence while circling back to an underlying message of unity and resilience. The record was pressed at Gotta Groove in Cleveland with a Stoughton gatefold sleeve, and finds the band reflecting on where they've been as much as where they're headed.
