This 1976 Inner City LP reissues Togetherness, recorded in Paris in the spring and summer of 1965 by Don Cherry's first steady quintet, with Gato Barbieri on tenor sax and Cherry on cornet. Karl Berger plays vibes, Jean-François Jenny-Clark bass and Aldo Romano drums, across a single suite in five movements. It is the group's only recording, and Barbieri's playing here marked him out in the avant-garde years before his Latin jazz albums. We also have Barbieri's El Gato. This is the US Inner City reissue, with new liner notes by Nat Hentoff.
