The Seven Gold, reissued in 2024 by 333, revives a 1987 U-Roy album originally released on Prince Jazzbo's Ujama label as Music Addict and also issued in the US that year via Real Authentic Sound. Recorded at Michael Carroll's Creative Sounds Studio in Kingston with engineer Paul Davidson and produced by Jazzbo, the seven tracks find the pioneering deejay working over digital dancehall-era rhythms rather than his classic early-1970s toasting sound, backed by musicians including Wailers keyboardist Tyrone Downie and Tony "Asher" Brissett, who played on the historic 1985 Sleng Teng riddim.
