Waiting For The Rain, released 1985 on Jive Afrika, was recorded at a mobile Battery Studios session in Botswana, where Hugh Masekela was then based in exile from apartheid South Africa. The band includes a young Bheki Mseleku on tenor sax and keyboards, and the record revisits his own 1974 protest song "Stimela (Coal Train)" alongside a cover of Fela Kuti's "Lady" and the pointedly titled "Politician." Masekela dedicated the album to his mother, Pauline Bowers Masekela.
