The Promise Of A Future, recorded over three days in March 1968 at Gold Star Studios in Los Angeles and released that year on UNI, was produced by Stewart Levine under his Chisa Productions banner. The record contains Hugh Masekela's instrumental "Grazing in the Grass," built from South African kwela melodies, which became a massive crossover pop hit the same year. Saxophonist Al Abreu, pianist William Henderson and guitarist Bruce Langhorne round out the session.
