Journey To Addis, released 1978 on Island, marked a deliberate pivot for Third World away from roots reggae toward a reggae-soul, crossover sound, produced by Alex Sadkin with the band. A cover of the O'Jays' "Now That We Found Love," remixed with new vocals and a faster tempo, became the breakout single, reaching number ten on the UK chart. The record also reworks the Skatalites' "Addis Ababa" as an instrumental, a nod to ska roots.
