Sylvester’s fourth album, and the one that made him a genuine crossover star — ‘Dance (Disco Heat)’ and ‘You Make Me Feel (Mighty Real)’ both topped the disco charts and went gold. Patrick Cowley’s synthesizer work alongside backing vocalists Izora Rhodes and Martha Wash (later of Two Tons O’ Fun and the Weather Girls) gave the record its unmistakable sound, cut at Clark-Brown Audio in Los Angeles in 1978. A defining document of disco’s gospel-and-electronics crossover moment.
