To Know Without Knowing is the second album pairing Mulatu Astatke, the father of Ethio-jazz, with Melbourne's Black Jesus Experience, following Cradle Of Humanity (2016). Recorded between Addis Ababa and Melbourne, it mixes new compositions with reworked traditional Ethiopian pieces, adding hip-hop verses and soul vocals to the band's horns and grooves. It opens with a new version of Astatke's 1972 classic "Mulatu" and includes "Living On Stolen Land" and the title track. We also have Mulatu Of Ethiopia, where "Mulatu" first appeared, and the New York - Addis - London compilation. This is the band's own 2019 Australian pressing on BJX, issued before Agogo Records' international release in 2020.
