Kibrom Birhane's fourth album, released on Flying Carpet Records in October 2025, was built entirely on a Studio 110 modular synthesizer — no digital instruments at all — after two years of composing and a month-long recording stretch at the label's own studio. Ethiopian musical modes run through the fourteen tracks, filtered through analogue synth textures the label calls “ancient and otherworldly.” Esy Tadesse guests on vocals on one track. Flying Carpet founder Kamal de Iruretagoyena Humphrey provided the studio and gear for what amounts to Birhane's most technically constrained, and most exploratory, record yet.
