Give Me The Night, released in 1980 on Qwest/Warner Bros., was produced by Quincy Jones and recorded at Cherokee Studios and Kendun Recorders with engineer Bruce Swedien. Songwriter Rod Temperton contributed several tracks, reworking two songs from his earlier band Heatwave, while a studio lineup including Herbie Hancock, George Duke and Louis Johnson filled out the arrangements. The record topped both the soul and jazz albums charts, went platinum within two months, and won George Benson two Grammys.
